3 things

Support &
questions.

Everything 3 Things does, doesn't do, and how to ask for help.

Getting started.

install

Install from the Chrome Web Store. Open a new tab. The first time, you'll see a 3-screen explainer (skippable).

add a task

Type the thing. Pick an estimate (15m–4h). Hit return. Repeat up to three times.

focus a task

Click ▶ focus next to a task. The clock starts. Click ■ stop to pause. Time is preserved across pauses.

finish the day

Mark all three done. The receipt prints automatically with timings and status. Close the tab — that's the deliberate end-of-day signal.

Frequently asked.

Why only three tasks?
Because four is too many. The point of 3 Things is that the constraint forces a real commitment. If you can do four things in a day, two of them are not actually important.
What if I have more than three things to do?
You probably do. That's what your task manager is for. 3 Things is for picking the three you'll actually defend today.
Why does it block tasks over 3 hours?
Anything over three hours hides another task inside it. The breakdown modal makes you name both pieces. This is by design — it's the most useful feature in the app.
Where is my data stored?
Locally, in chrome.storage.local. Nothing leaves your device. No accounts, no backend, no sync. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything.
Can I sync across devices?
No. By design. The whole product depends on a single machine being the place you keep your commitment.
How does the streak work?
Ship all three things in a day, the streak grows by one. Miss a day, it resets to zero. No guilt, no notifications — just the number.
What is the "reset time"?
The time of day your slate clears. Default is local midnight. Set it to your real wake-up time in Settings if you don't roll over at 12:00am.
Can I hide the streak?
Yes — Settings → Show streak → off. The number, the 30-day grid, and the receipt line all disappear.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once installed, the extension runs entirely on your machine. The only network requests are for the Google Fonts used in the typography.
How do I uninstall?
Open chrome://extensions, find 3 Things, click Remove. All data goes with it.
